Astro's Sunday Blog

008 - 02.18.2024

So it’s been 2 weeks since I’ve done one of these. I’ve been busy. Lots of things have been in the works. For starters, we’re changing up the way we handle @CSR | Reserve, @CSR | Reserve I, and @CSR | Reserve II. We’re going to transition away from reserve positions in favor of changing the activity requirements for our Patrol Rangers.

We have seen time and time again that oftentimes people put a lot on their plate when here in CaliRP. Whether it’s staff, gangs, other departments, or even real life. We understand that people don’t always want to treat the California State Rangers as their main department. We have changed the activity requirements for Probationary Ranger through Ranger II to 5 hours/month. We want to reduce that amount of supervisors that are sitting in their positions not garnering activity for the department and open them up for those that put in the effort. We also want to make our patrol spots more accessible for all that just want to represent the department but don’t want to hold responsibility.

Over the next couple days, we’ll be reaching out to current individuals in reserve and giving you guys an option.

A. Come off reserve and resume normal duties at your current rank

B. Step down to Ranger II (If higher than ranger II) to lessen activity requirements)

For those that are in reserve and read this message, please create a general support ticket and rename it to “reserve-change” so we can get you guys set up. This change will be in trial phase for the next two weeks. If we feel that this change hurts the department more than benefits it, we will rollback the change.

Our Top Recruiter, Top FTA, Top FTO, Ranger of the Week, and Ranger of the Month prizes have been added upon. You will now not only get the @F.A & F.O tag but also the @Stewie tag for the time of your title. The #「🥳」fafo-winners channel will be updated with these changes. Reminder that there is Owner’s VIP for a month on the line for the Ranger of this Month. This gives you literally almost every role and perk in CaliRP imaginable.

FTD is still in progress as I’ve been busy with IRL things. This past week was a rough one for activity. Thank you all for choosing the California State Rangers as your Main LEO CaliRP Department!

Cheers,
Astro

So we're 1-year old now.

The California State Rangers have against all odds, made it to their first anniversary, became a non-purchased department, avoided shutdown, and overall proved themselves worthy of remaining. I'm going to keep this brief since I had a crappy week. Improve overall activity, be helpful, and most of all, be kind.

I'm going to be taking a break for the next couple days so if you need me, please make a general support ticket and rename it to "need-astro". Mental health is very important to me and to the core functions of this department. Please make sure to take breaks every once in a while (cough cough 2I-05 | M. Vasquez). Don't think just because I'm gone that means you can all act a fool. I expect to hear and see good things from this department in my absence. I will be watching 👀.

Hey California State Rangers!

Over the past couple weeks, we have been heavily enforcing our new Activity & Promotion Guidelines and have found the changes to be working really well. We’ve seen more FTD activity and more hours being put in than the week prior.

Our 1st anniversary is coming up on the 24th. That’s this Wednesday. Stay tuned as we have events planed for you guys to celebrate our 1 year as a department. I am extremely proud of this department. This past week was a quiet one so this blog isn’t going to be too long. The only other thing that we’ve really added this past week is our branding page. That’s all for this Sunday. Keep up the awesome work Rangers and I’ll see you on duty this week.

Cheers,
Astro

Hey California State Rangers,

We're getting closer and closer to a finalization of department changes. We continue to make improvements where we see the need to. For starters, Department Hub roles are now transferred to this server. That means no more tag wipes, hassle, and overall annoyance of dealing with getting your department tags.

We recently announced our YouTube and Twitch pages. At the meeting I gave a few sneak peaks. We are currently developing our Media Team subdivision. This subdivision will not require hours but will have requirements to be able to join it in terms of equipment and computer power. We're still working out all of the details and will let you guys know when we're ready to start bringing people in.

We also talked about internet security and the breach on Microsoft's OneDrive. Never underestimate the power of bad actors. They will continue to find workarounds to gain access to your accounts and your Discord. Always check links in your browser. If it doesn't match what the official site has for links, it's probably a scam. Never download a game that someone sends you. It can and will bypass your 2FA on your Discord and leave you unable to do anything about it.

In regards to punishments. We had zero this past week. That's incredible and I'm extremely proud of everyone for representing the California State Rangers in such a professional capacity.

The biggest thing that happened this week is the command team moving around and our discord branding being updated. We've got people in different spots. Check the roster for more information. Our branding should now be more "on brand". You'll notice that the server icon has changed as well as our banner.

All in all, a really outstanding week. Keep up the good work Rangers. We've got many more months ahead of us.

Cheers,
Astro

004 - 01.07.2024

Hey Rangers,

It's that time again. Time for Astro's Sunday Yap Session.

A lot has changed in the past week. For starters, we've updated the Activity & Promotion guidelines to be more streamlined. Subdivisions have changed to be more open and accessible including RRT moving to an application-based subdivision. Policies such as the way you conduct the openings of your traffic stops have also changed.

Our activity is strong and we're seeing higher and higher statistics.

We've seen an uptick once again especially with our trainings and recruitments. We're continuing to monitor every aspect of the changes we've made to FTD and the rest of the subdivisions. We're always looking for feedback on our changes so please make sure to send them to #「💬」general-chat.

Events, events, and more events!

Recently, I've been thinking about different events to host. Different departments to do them with. I'm happy to say that we're going to start partnering with CHP a lot more. Competitions, Tactical Raids, Game Nights, and others. I'm still working out all of the details with the Troopers but I think it could bring about some special moments. We're also starting the planning of our next big CSR event :blobshh:.

Closing the yap session.

All in all a successful week for the California State Rangers. We've ended it on the top of the LEO leaderboard. Let's continue the hustle.

Cheers,
Astro

2023… What a year it has been. A lot has changed over the course of the last year. For me. For you. For this department. Beyond the virtual badges and digital patrol cars, you Rangers embodied the spirit of community. In 2023, you not only embraced the role play, you solidified yourselves as an integral part of the unique tapestry that is the California State Rangers. You formed connections and created experiences like no other and have certainly left an indelible mark on this department.

As we bid farewell to the challenges and triumphs of 2023, I’d like to acknowledge the dedication that all of you have displayed. Your tireless efforts, commitment to roleplay excellence, and unwavering dedication to professionalism have not gone unnoticed and I will continue to reward those who go above and beyond and make the effort. You have all kept our community vibrant and engaging.

As we stand on the cusp of 2024, let’s carry the lessons and camaraderie forward. You Rangers have set the bar high. May the new year bring fresh adventures, thrilling pursuits, and even more memorable stories as we continue to explore the boundless possibilities of roleplay in our virtual world.

Cheers to you who truly make California Roleplay a place to hang out and gather. Cheers to you who may not get on every week but still make an effort to be around. Cheers to all of our reserve members who represent us even when they aren’t around. Cheers to our Probationary Rangers who are our foundation and the reason why we do what we do every day. Cheers to all of the supervisors who voluntarily donate their time.

Cheers to 2024,
Astro

Courage, Commitment, Honor, Respect, Integrity, and above all else, Family.

002 - 12.24.2023

‘Twas the night before Christmas,
When all through CSR
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
The weapons were hung,
In the weapons locker with care,
In hopes that St. Woolas, soon would be there.

And Martin in his kerchief,
And I in my Cap,
Had just settled down,
To a long Winter’s nap.
When out in the break room,
There rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But newfangled cars, and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Woo.

More rapid than Rockstar’s Lore Hammer, his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name:

Now, Wagner! Now, Federov! Now, Bobby and Fury! On, Woodcrest and Wiles!
On, Carlos! On, Eren! On, Phoenix and Fox!
To the top of the helipad, to the top of the wall!
Now, dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!

As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Woolas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in gear from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a toddler, to the size of his pack.
His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed although he was a bit smelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to work,
And filled all the stockings.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all and all a good night!

Merry Christmas from the bottom of our hearts here in the California State Rangers. We are so incredibly happy that we get to spend our first Christmas with you. When we created this department back in January, we had no idea we would come this far. And now we’re almost celebrating our 1 year anniversary. Like a married couple. How time flies.

We hope everyone’s holiday is filled with food and love and if not, we’ll provide that love for you. Thank you for choosing the California State Rangers and thank you for being a part of our family.

Cheers!

Hey California State Rangers!

A very good morning to all of my VIP EST members.

I’m going to start doing these every Sunday for you all since I personally think it’s interesting and would hope some of you find it interesting also. We’re currently in 4th place at 852.06 hours in the overall leaderboard. Now whilst we aren’t sitting at the #1 spot department-wide, we are still in an extremely awesome 2nd place to CHP of which I am very proud of you all for. We’re looking at higher numbers than last week which is what we strive for. The screenshot shown comes from our website engagement which provides a lot of useful data for us. It allows us to see what may be working and what may not be working since it can be a good **approximation** for member interaction.

Thank you all for another strong week and we look forward to seeing what you all bring to the state this week. We hope everyone enjoys the start of their holiday break.

Cheers,
Astro
